Fat Guy Eats: Lacampagnola

by tonyd on May 16, 2018 at 1:26 am

Restaurant: Lacampagnola

Address: 439 Oakshade Road, Shamong, NJ 08088

Food:  Italian

Price:  Good

Portions:  Big

Taste:  Astonishingly Good

Service:  Solid

Atmosphere:  Fancy

First, let me tell that I absolutely could not do another Twitter in Focus tonight.  I’m up against a deadline and quite frankly, Twitter is an absolute cesspool right now.  Trying to find Twitter accounts that aren’t full of this surface political opinion (and I mean opinion that’s about as nuanced and knowledgeable as a meme) is nigh impossible now.  It’s, dare I say, WORSE than Facebook ever was because at least people post pictures of their kids and relatives and dying celebrities on Facebook.  Twitter is an endless font of narcissism mixed with virtue signalling mixed with self-righteous smugness you can actually smell off your computer monitor.  Jesus Christ people!  It’s bad enough Twitter actually had to prune the other accounts of those that didn’t agree with the current mob mentality that pervades the left side of U.S. politics.  It’s just an endless room of people talking, but not listening.  I don’t know if I’ll be doing Twitter in Focus anymore.  I didn’t want to repeat anyone and I’ve kind of covered everyone I liked.  I think any sane person has long since logged off.

Okay, back to this restaurant review.  (A much more pleasant experience!)  Lacampagnola was incredible and that’s saying something.  As long time readers know, I have a high, high, HIGH bar for Italian food.  This place really got it right.  Now it was a Mother’s Day dinner, so the menu was stripped down to accommodate the throng.  Fortunately, Chicken parm was still there.  I ordered it with the pasta, which I normally sub out for fries.  (I know, I’m a terrible Italian.)  But let me tell you something, the past was great.  Cooked to perfection, great sauce and even better bread and pizza bread.  I also had a shrimp cocktail, which was great, and I really enjoyed the house salad.

Overall, just very impressive.  I left quite full and satisfied.  Good iced tea too.  I give Lacampagnola 10 out of 10 keggers.  Can’t think of a thing wrong with it.  You should go, bros!

Ten Things I Expect From a Family of Suicide Bombers

by tonyd on May 14, 2018 at 12:01 am

Suicide bombing is apparently a family business now.  Here now are the Ten Things I Expect From a Family of Suicide Bombers.

  1.  Mom always suggest wearing an extra bomb when it’s cold outside.
  2.  Kids constantly outgrowing suicide vests.
  3.  Dad insists on having better suicide bombs than neighbor family.
  4.  Chuck E. Cheese now number one target.
  5.  Family dog keeps slipping out of bomb vest and chewing on it.
  6.  Super high cellphone bill from detonating bombs.
  7.  Father argues with son about following in his footsteps in the family business.
  8.  Mom feeds dad diet food so that he doesn’t get too fat for his good suicide vest.
  9.  Father insists daughter wear less revealing bomb.
  10. All family trips mercifully short as they always abruptly end.

Your Mother’s Day Fratoscope

by tonyd on May 13, 2018 at 1:20 am

FratoScopeHeader

If your birthday is this week:  The man you mother hires to wish you a Happy Birthday, lights your house on fire instead.

Aries:  Your “Basket of Badgers” Mother’s Day arrangement gets mixed reviews.

Taurus:  Your mother thanks you for the Strip-o-Gram and then after the dance, introduces you to your new dad.

Gemini:  Your mom assures you that your passive aggressive Mother’s Day celebration won’t impact her love for you in the slightest.  Not the slightest.

Lemini:  Your brunch with mom goes well, but she complains about the Dairy Queen bathroom’s cleanliness.

Cancer:  Visiting your mother goes great, but the prison guards still refuse to remove her handcuffs so you can hug.

Leo:  This week, your mother will attempt to fix you up with one of her older friends again.

Virgo:  The stars say, call your mother.  It’s the only way she’ll make it out of the woods.

Libra:  Your mother will demand you dance and juggle fire for her amusement.

Scorpio:  Mom doesn’t get home from her orgy until late, so you end up having the celebration without her.

Sagittarius:  Your mother will thank you for the two liter bottle of cough syrup and then disappear back into the homeless shelter.

Capricorn:  Mom buys you a tenth round of tequila and calls you a pussy if you don’t drink.

Aquarius:  After beating up everyone in the bar, you can finally give your mother the flowers you bought.

Pisces:  Mother’s Day brunch goes great, but you really didn’t have to take the whole restaurant hostage to get a table.

Webcomic Review: Extra Fabulous Comics

by tonyd on May 12, 2018 at 12:01 am

SF Tony Avatar

Webcomic:  Extra Fabulous Comics

Creator:   Zach

Format:  Usually around 3-4 panels, sometimes more, sometimes color, sometimes b/w

Updates:  Once or more a month?

Genre:  Comedy, Puns, Weirdness

Themes:  Wordplay, Absurdity, Every Day Weirdness

Characters:  Zach (I think), the bro character, various other people

Archive: Unknown

I would estimate that Zach has been cranking out comics for at least three years, maybe more.  Sometimes he really finishes the artwork and other times it looks like they were drawn ten minutes before deadline on a napkin in the parking lot.  That’s not to bash those strips.  Zach has a very sparse and simple style of artwork and this kind of gag-a-day style comic doesn’t particularly need super detailed work.

The comic is very funny.  It does stuff about word play.  Once in a while, he does a strange video.  As of this review, he has over 500 installments.  It’s very random, so don’t expect a storyline, but do expect to laugh.

Definitely bookmark Extra Fabulous Comics.  He updates whenever, but it’s worth searching out when it does.
