Welcome to Twitter in Focus where media comes to die!  Today’s contestant is Lucky Yates, voice of Kreiger on Archer.  He’s funny on the show, let’s see what he’s tweeting!

Trump may be a monster, but he’s a charismatic monster.

August 6th:  “If you’ve been following this debacle with me tonight, thanks. I’ve had a blast. Big ups to for being an inspiration, always.”

Patton is everywhere.

I wish they made strangers more gutsy.  You’d never believe how many people you have to meet to get a “yes!”.

It really is.  It hit its prime in the 2nd season.

Okay, let’s rate Lucky’s tweets.  Opinionated, included interviews and lots of fun stuff in just a short run.  How can you not love Kreiger?  I give Lucky an 8 for Mustness, a 9 for Style and a 10 for Insanity.  That’s an overall score of 9, follow Kreiger.

Webcomic Review: BarteNERDS

Creator:   Joe Simonetti

Format:  Color, three or four panel strip

Updates:  Mondays

Genre:  Comedy, slice of life, geek stuff

Themes:  Geek stuff, bars, video games

Characters:  Joe, redheaded girl

Archive:  Begins October 1, 2012

BarteNERDS is a slice-of-life webcomic about the author and his job as a bartender and his nerdy life.  Reading the About section, however, reveals that the comic is really more about the kind of life he’d actually like to have.  I think it’s a mixture of both his mental fantasies and what actually happens.

Joe plays a lot of video games, watches movies and TV.  His opinions come out in the comic and it’s not a bad take on nerd stuff.  The art has certainly progressed.  I guess I would like to see more of the bar job integrated in the comic more and I imagine if he did more than a semi-weekly post, the characters would progress more rapidly.

Overall, I’d say the comic is decent.  The website could use a cast list and perhaps Joe could explore the idea of creating a fictional girlfriend for himself.  So if you’d like to check out a webcomic with a long run, but not an overly huge archive, check out BarteNERDS.  There’s also some animated shorts and one episode of a podcast about Rick & Morty.

Movies You Missed: Coherence

Coherence is a low budget sci-fi movie that maximizes its low budget in a great way. The premise is this: A comet is passing overhead during a dinner party with eight friends. The comet causes some kind of rip in reality. The street that the house containing the party is on, now contains nothing but copies of the same house and the friends, but alternate realities of those friends. Things quickly get mixed up and the friends become increasingly afraid and the copies of the various friends end up in the wrong realities.

The ending is a bit of a cop out, but everything up until that point is pretty stellar. The cast feels like they are doing improv in a lot of the scenes. Nicholas Brendon (of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame) is probably the only face you’re going to recognize, but it’s a great cast.

You can find Coherence (2013) on Netflix. You should see it.
