A show about donuts?  Yeah, I can get behind it.

She needs to be eating donuts, while watching the show.  Or at least, I do.

Love the behind-the-scenes.  That’s a lot of people working that show.

Pudding?  Guess that’s a joke from the show.

Fat Guy Eats: Okimaki

Restaurant:  Okimaki

Address:  910 Haddonfield-Berlin Rd Suite #7, Voorhees Township, NJ 08043

Food:  Sushi Burrito

Price:  Above Average

Portions:  Below Average

Taste:  Really Good

Service:  Okay

Atmosphere:  Like a Chipotle

Well, they seem to be taking Chipotle model and plugging in all sorts of food.  Inside a restaurant called a Ramen Noodle House is a tiny side section that makes sushi burritos.  It’s more of a lunch place and/or cafe.  You stand in line, like Chipotle, pick your ingredients and drink.  A sushi burrito with a little tuna, salmon and yellow tail (and various toppings) was $14.95.  It was a little small and the drink was one of those crazy Japanese sodas with the plunger thing and the glass ball.

Authentic, but not enough for dinner.  I had to run to Pancheros and get some tacos just to fill up.  Maybe okay for lunch.  Good, but not enough.  I will have to try the noodle house.

I give the Okimaki 7 out of 10 keggers.  Not bad.

Fat Guy Eats: The Vault

Restaurant:  The Vault

Address:  300 Farnsworth Avenue, Bordentown, NJ

Food:  Pizza

Price:  About Average

Portions:  Decent

Taste:  Really Good

Service:  Adequate

Atmosphere:  Converted Bank

 

The Vault is located in an old bank building right in the middle of Bordentown.  They specialize in made-to-order, brick oven pizzas.  Each pizza covers a large plate and serves one, so the idea is that everyone orders a different pizza and then you trade slices.  It’s not a slice and a soda place.

It’s a little higher end, better ingredients, slightly higher prices.  I had the Pesto Besto Pizza with chicken, pesto, tomatoes and cheese.  It was really good.  My brother had sausage, broccoli rabe and garlic, my dad has the pizza with fig jam and honey and my mother had a margarita pizza with mushrooms.  I also got a house salad, which was also pretty decent, heirloom tomatoes and spring mix.

Our waitress was friendly and pretty good.  It was Friday, so she was pretty slammed.  We were in a hurry and she did the best she could to accommodate us.  This really isn’t a date place, but it’s a good place to take the kids or just to get a hot pizza.  It also has tons of Pokemon Go stops in the area, two right near the restaurant, although the signal is generally weak in Bordentown.

I give the The Vault 8 out of 10 keggers, bros!
