Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen star in this based-on-a-true-story movie about Rogen’s friend from the Ali G show who got cancer.  I saw an interview with Rogen on the Daily Show and the movie sounded like a real door into his life.  I was slightly disappointed that Rogen and his buddy, Will Reiser, changed the characters.  (I was really hoping for a Sasha Baren Cohen cameo.)  Despite that, the movie is pretty good.

Adam (Levitt) finds out he has a rare cancer and Kyle (Rogen) is his best friend who helps.  Adam’s life unravels a bit as he has to deal with his relationship problems, his mother and falling for his therapist.  Some of the audience walked out of the movie, which I thought was odd, it was paced well.  And although Rogen was playing a character, based on what he said in the Daily Show interview and what was on the screen, it felt like there were some genuine moments of him being a dick.

So overall, this is a good flick worth seeing.  I would’ve liked to have seen something really close to true life, but this felt pretty genuine.  I give it 8 out of 10 keggers.
