Filomena’s is my go-to, local Italian eatery.  I had my wedding reception at the Berlin one.  Super solid, local Italian food at good prices.

That all being said, probably my worst visit there.  That’s not to say it was bad.  I think the waiter was a little off his game.  We were starving by the time we got in, which was on me and Missus.  But it took a while to get bread.  Still, the bread is good, as is the garlic bread.  I’ve had better, but it’s decent.  They also serve roasted peppers with it.  Not my thing, but the Missus liked it.

Filomena’s has a great four-course deal for $23.  I got Clams Casino (four clams, was okay), salad with house dressing (really good, although my lettuce was a little dried out, but not brown) and for an entree, Chicken Contadina (really good, but a little small).  Dessert was included, so I got Spumoni (decent).  The Missus got eggplant rollatini (one piece, should’ve been two), minestrone soup (which she liked) and seafood risotto (which she liked a lot).  Dessert was a pretty tiny cannoli.

Not bad for $23, but they seemed to skimp for no reason.  I mean, eggplant rollatini has to be cheaper than claims, so it really should’ve been two for a appetizer.  Maybe it’s just me, because I do like a lot of food and I was starving and my bar for Italian places is very high.  Plus I’ve been to Filomena’s like a million times, so maybe I’m too picky.  Still, I thought it was a good deal.  High quality food and the rest of menu is pretty decent too.

I give Filomena’s in Blackwood, NJ 7 out of 10 keggers.
