I was looking for a good deal.  The Missus was running late and there was enough time and/or food in the house to make a proper dinner.  I had passed the White Horse Diner many times, but never went in.  Since I love diners, I have literally been to every other diner in the area.  Finally, I would check this one off my list.

The building was originally a Cumberland Farms, I think.  Maybe a Gino’s, if you remember that.  Anyhow, it’s a cozy little place with a large lobby and lots of pictures and clutter on the walls.  The staff is super friendly and attentive.  They asked us where we wanted to sit.

The deal was $8.95 for a chicken pot pie, soup or salad and dessert.  If you order the ham, like the Missus did, you got two veggies.  I think hers was $9.95.  Less than $10 for a meal like that?  It’s a pretty good deal.  I was skeptical about the chicken pot pie.  I assumed it was small, but it was not.  It was about the size of a football.  Plus, with all that, we got a free basket of bread which included delicious cornbread.

The salad was fresh and a decent portion.  The Missus liked the ham, but though the fruit sauce that came with it was a little weird and jello-like.  She liked the mashed potatoes and applesauce.  I thought the chicken pot pie was good.  Flaky crust, full of chicken, peas, carrots and potatoes.  (I’m trying to eat healthy these days.  Can’t beat one of these.)  Topped it off with some chocolate pudding and whipped cream.  Not bad at all.

Totally worth it.  I would definitely go back.  At these prices, who wouldn’t it?

I give the White Horse Diner 8.5 out of 10 keggers.
