With the sequel coming out, I felt it was long overdue that I see this movie.
Sicario is a dreary, drug epic about the pointless Drug War and how it impacts people’s lives. In some scenes, it gets a little too full of itself and Benicio Del Toro’s Alejandro character is given a pretty big justification for his behavior so you will like him. Other than that, it feels gritty and realistic.

Josh Brolin is, as always, great in his role. (Although a little too gleeful at points.) Overall, I like the movie. Emily Blunt’s character is good, but I can see why she’s not in the sequel. (minor spoiler) It’s her character’s arc that we follow in the movie, even though Del Toro almost overwhelms it. See it, bros. Especially if you’re going to the sequel.
